Annual Kiss Mike's Bass tourney 4-18-2010
Well it is a done deal. Another tournament gone by. A good time was had by all who attended. Rather than list the no shows we will note the attendees Ricky B "The Chisler", Mike H "Dr. Bull", Ardie Z "Zimi" Bluce, Max and Duke. Oh I forgot Willy the Goat and his Bitch, One Ewe, One Ram and 2 two month old sheep. And this years winner-I thought you would never guess Ricky B -The Chisler. Total count 21 Bass.
The water was murky this year due to Heavy Rain, but the tournament enjoyed superb weather mid 70's. The Host was excellent as usual, but I must note The Beer Truck was late on the First day and a no show on the second day. We hope the road will be in a little better shape by next year. No pigs to be found but lots of next years deer. Looking forward to the next Tournament so Mark your calenders early, check with the Chisler for dates. All for now see ya all Thursday, except Richard. He is still in the ash waiting for a flight out next tuesday.

1st Pig at the Ranch
1st pig of the year taken at the H Ranch and my 1st pig ever.....
Well...Ardie beat me to the post. I shot a 230 pound boar Saturday the 21st in the evening. Mike was at the rock, I was at the shack with Amanda. Mike spotted the pig coming towards him up the valley below the pond. He called me over to take him knowing that I have yet to get a shot at a pig with my new 30-06. I came over, got a little within 300 yrds (Mike was telling me to get closer over the 2way, but I couldn't hear him) and hit it twice. Once in the shoulder and once in the throat.....turning out to be a good kill without spoiling any meat. When Mike asked me, over the 2way, how big it is I told him 130 lbs...maybe 150. Well let's just say that I realized quickly when we lifted it into the Rhino that I suck at guessing weight. And then he asked how far I thought the shot was....I said 150 to 200 yrds. After measuring the distance the next day (275yrds) it turns out that I suck at guessing distance as well. I guess it'll come with more experience. Thanks again to Mike for another good hunt. I had been out the past four weekends and was pretty close to getting a shot last weekend with my Glock 10mm. in the pouring rain. (I didn't want to ruin my scope on my rifle in the rain so I took the Glock hoping to crawl up to one) However, it worked out to my advantage to not get the shot because I would have had to get the pig back to the house by myself and the pig was well over 400lbs....it was a beast. Not to mention I would have had to gut it and butcher it without the guidance of Bruce and Mike. I was glad to have them around this weekend to show me how to get it from the field to the freezer....great knowledge passed down.

Everyone that will be participating in the "Kiss Mike's Bass Tourney" will be happy to know that the rains have filled the pond to the brim.
Amanda is cooking one of the hams (15-20 lbs).
See ya'll tonight for beers, gars, cribbage, and dinner....

Just another Thursday
Here we go again with the Thursday BBQ. Looks like Porky is back on the grill thanks to the Keen eye of Brett W who downed a 250 pounder this week at the H Ranch. Spring is in the air and the Kiss my Bass Tourney is just a month away. Last weeks BBQ was well attended and food was plentiful. Everyone appears to be on hand for the gathering tonight. Bob coming in from Tahoe. Guess some still having trouble Blogging. Just can't seem to remember their password. Bring some periferies as I believe Richard has another fantastic desert prepared. The latest MSC BBQ was held at Hapy Jack's Establishment. Jack provided the meat and prep by Dr. Bull was excellent. Wow a big turnout most everyone as available to share stories and lies. Richard will be making pudding out of the left over Panetone. Good time was had by all even were able to play some Crib and watch Basketball can you imagine! Looks like (I need help here Bob with the notebook) 7th Annual kiss my Bass tournament or 1st annual KIss Mike's Bass Tournament. Very confusing and we need to get the records in order. The tenative date the weekend of March 28 & 29. I propose we have no time limits and dawn to dusk Sat and end by 3 o'clock Sunday. Do I here all Aye's Matey? The Chisler was the Big winner last year followed by One with Water. NO FRIDAY fishing. Let the little buggers rest before the onslaught. Hope we get some water.
